This is one twisty, addictive thriller much like some of those Netflix shows that you can’t stop binge watching. Lisa Jewell for me is a stand out in this genre because her characters typically have some depth and the plots are not predictable or cliché. Jewell tells us from the outset that none of this is true but you still keep reading wondering which part is true? Highly recommend. Be sure to read the interview from Shondaland with Lisa Jewell when you’re done.

Confusing? Yes. Evil? Yes! Twisted? Oh, Yes! I do not usually like dark stories. They make me too aware of the ugly side of human nature; especially when one considers that fact is often even stranger than fiction. However, as a true psychological thriller, the author hits a nerve as to the twisted mind of a mentally disturbed person and saves the best for last. This one definitely has the potential for a TV series and nasty sequel(s) too. The reader is left wondering: 1) How far is one willing to go to protect others while still maintaining a guilt free conscience? 2) How much is true as to what someone believes to be true and therefore predicates their actions on?
